Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoa has confirmed to SABC Sport that coach Dylan Kerr will continue at the helm for the upcoming season.

Details of around the length of his contract are still to be ironed out. The Dube Birds have only just concluded talks with the Englishman for him to carry on in the dugout given their season only ended late in June because of the Premier Soccer League promotion/relegation play-offs.

Swallows had to keep their DStv Premiership status the hard way, ending second from bottom and having to go into a round-robin league alongside AmaTuks and Cape Town All Stars from the then GladAfrica Championship.

In a rather brief statement to SABC Sport, the Dube Birds boss affirmed that Kerr had returned from a personal matter in the UK to continue his duties.

“The Coach will continue with Swallows FC this season. He started with assessments of trialists today, but the terms are still to be finalised,” Mogashoa explained.

He had given the impression Kerr’s future was up in the air last week when, in an exclusive interview with SABC Sport, Mogashoa disputed the notion that the coach was responsible for “saving” the club from relegation.

Mogashoa said then: “He had 18 games, you can’t say he saved the club.” But following talks on Monday, the decision has been taken that Kerr will continue.
