SABC Sport has learnt that attacker Luvuyo Memela is on the wanted list of at least four DStv Premiership clubs ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The 34-year-old did not have his contract with AmaZulu renewed at the end of the season after two years of being a regular, and the announcement that he was leaving took many in the football fraternity by surprise.
With clubs putting the final touches on their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign, which officially kicks off in August, it is understood Memela has received offers from TS Galaxy, Marumo Gallants, Sekhukhune United and Maritzburg United.
But the player’s agent has told SABC Sport that they will not rush their decision and instead take a calculated decision on the player’s future.
“Yes, that is true…we have received offers from those clubs you mention and I can tell you that there are a few others that have expressed an interest that you maybe are not aware of,” said Basia Michaels of QT Sport.
“What is important for Memela is that we look at his options for the next two to three years at least, and beyond football – that is our goal and we will not compromise on that.
“We are going to exhaust all our options until we are comfortable with the route Memela takes.”
A former Orlando Pirates player, Amigo has been delivering the goods at the highest level and consistently for a number of years now, hence his AmaZulu exit would have come as a shock as president Sandile Zungu recently opted to offload 15 players.
