The reigning champion Iga Swiatek extended her winning streak to 27 matches, following her 6-2 6-1 victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the Italian Open semi-final, Thursday the 14th of May.

The 20-year-old has reached her fifth straight WTA final.

Swiatek swept aside her World number eight opponent in just an hour. At around 30 minutes she took a 3-1 lead and she continued applying pressure in the second set to lead with 4-1.

Having won the Stuttgart final and Doha quarter-finals – against Sabalenka, the World number one has bettered her overall head-to-head record against third seed to 3-1

Sabalenka, who won only two of her service games, received a medical timeout at 4-1 down, but the Pole shrugged off the disruption to wrap up the win soon after.
