Cape Town City are hopeful they will make the top two of the Premiers League so as to take part at next season’s CAF Champions League. The Citizens are in a battle for the top two position with Royal AM who are four points ahead of them.

Coach Eric Tinkler feels they missed the opportunity to press Royal AM in their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns:
“I think that battle would have been better I we collected three points tonight we would have close that gap to two”.

“Our target at the beginning of the season was to finish at the top four, eeeh the bonus will be to finish in second. Our boys are gonna give everything they can to try and achieve that but obviously right now it doesn’t lay in our hands”

Even though City parted with some of their key players during the transfer window in January, such as Fagrie Lakay and Bradley Ralani, the club managed to stay competitive in the league. Tinkler stresses that it is important for them to keep to their playing style for them to do well in their matches.
