Mamelodi Sundowns are the Premiership Soccer League Champions again; the Chloorkop side defended their title successfully to take the championship for the fifth time in a row after a goalless draw by Cape Town City at the Loftus Stadium.

A point is all they needed to defend their title. Co-coach Rulani Mokwena has congratulated the players for their efforts:
“A special word of congratulations to the players, you run out of superlatives to try to describe them, I mean what they show today is exactly a reflection of who they are; honest, hard working, extremely diligent, pleasure to coach. Eeeh It’s not easy to lose a Champion’s League game and to be broken the way we were, then come and show this type of a spirit and performance they showed, normally some teams would crumble after such a setback”

The league title will send the team back to the CAF Champions League after being eliminated from the quarter finals of the tournament, Mokwena says this is no time to relax.
“We go again, we go and play for the four games to try and get as many points as possible, ummh we can to try to….Unfortunately we can’t mathematical surpass now 71 points which is a record we had set but then we have to improve from the number of points we got last season. We gonna try our level best to maintain the certain level”

Winning the league title five times in a row sets Bafana BaStyles apart from the rest, Mokwena suggests that ambition is what drives the team.
