The 16-team Hollywoodbets Super League kicks off this weekend. Defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will open their campaign against Limpopo side, Ma-Indies who recently acquired the services of Sipho Mabuza who was previously with the Tshwane University of Technology. This season will be the first that will see two bottom teams relegated come the end of the season.

Mabuza believes that they will start their season with a win at home:
“We expect to start this season with a win because that’s how we have been playing the whole season…through the pre-season. What we are hoping when we are playing against Sundowns is to start with a good note of win and the we take from there, but there is no pressure within the ladies this season but the most important thing is that we see the team doing good and to make sure that we get the three points from the first game so that it can set the pace for us for the rest of the season”

Although Mabuza is fairly new at Limpopo side, he is confident they are building a team that will challenge for honours and hopes Banyana Banyana selectors ‘will eye his players for the approaching Women’s Afcon.

Mabuza says his main target is to see his girls grow in pitch: “The ultimate goal as a coach is to see the team doing pretty well and having more numbers in the national team that we have now, I think that will be a great thing for me as a coach”
