23 October 2021– South African T20 Cricket captain Temba Bavuma understands the high demand of excellence from South Africans and what is expected from the team.  The Proteas begin their T20 World Cup journey against Australia on Saturday afternoon at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Kick-off, 12:00pm).

Bavuma led side won two of their warm up matches against Afghanistan and Pakistan and will be hoping that same momentum continues against rivals Australia.

“I think over the last outing with the positive results we’ve been able to get, that has helped our confidence and given us confidence in the guys who are here.” Said Bavuma.

Bavuma also expressed how importance it will be for the team to be mentally tough and focus on the task at hand in order to make South Africans happy.

“I think, as a team, as individuals, we’ve come under heavy attack from the media, from the fans, over the last couple of whiles. So I don’t think it will be anything different, to be honest. We’ll keep as we’ve been doing, keep staying together as a team, as a family, and keep focusing on our cricket,” added Bavuma.

The last time the two sides clashed at the T20 World Cup back in 2012 it was Aussies who walked away victorious and the Proteas will be hoping to get their vengeance this time around.
